Ultra Hat Dimension! Help Bea with these interesting puzzles

We all like indie games, be it Undertale, FNAF or any other and since there are so many we always find secret gems among them, one of these gems is Ultra Hat Dimension!, a very fun game that came out on July 14 of this year 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC and today we are going to review from top to bottom this fun puzzle game in its version for the hybrid console of the big N.

The story is simple: our protagonist participates in a hat-making contest held in another dimension and travels to that dimension because she won. At that moment, the runner-up attacks the citizens and forces them to fight each other. The story is very simple, but it's told to you before starting each level from the protagonist's perspective, which makes you want to complete the level even more.

Something that really gets you into the game is that the gameplay is based a lot on what happens in the story and what we have to do in the game is make the citizens fight to allow us to get the key and enter the door and although the first 2 worlds are the easiest except for 1 or 2 levels from the end of the second the game begins to get more difficult and makes you think more and more until there are moments when you do not realize what to do, luckily there are no clues but the name of each of the levels gives you a clue as to where or how you should take the situation. Depending on the type of hat the Spluff is wearing, he will do one thing or another when colliding with another with the same or a different hat.

Combined with the gameplay, the graphics make the game a delight, boasting a retro style and being completely colorful and featuring striking colors not only in its few cinematics but also in-game and in its artwork. The soundtrack blends with these graphics and gameplay, being calm yet lively at the same time, though quite forgettable if you play the game a lot, since the core elements are very similar.

The worst parts of the game would be not exploring the story more, since the way of telling it came in a very original way with the character's thoughts discovering parts of the plot before each level and that sometimes the game requires being very technical and taking the exact steps and pushes to pass the level and does not give you much freedom, also the lack of collectibles is noticeable since many levels have completely unusable sections.

The story is good, though not very complete. The gameplay and graphics blend with the game's story to create an interesting puzzle game that will make you think a lot, almost missing the point of the interesting soundtrack, even though it has some flaws we've already mentioned. In conclusion, we'd say it's a good game, worth the €5 it costs and will give you 5-6 hours of gameplay and brain-teasing with some very clever puzzles.
